Emir Onur Romano-Cilek has invested 10+ years in militant atheist activism. He is an Ex-Muslim from Turkey. He has devoted his life to fight for the rights of non-believers in the Middle East region since 2011. He helped to establish the first-ever atheist Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republics of Turkey and Georgia. He is now working on establishing the first-ever atheist NGOs of the Republics of Azerbaijan, and Cyprus. He sees organized atheism in the developing countries in the Middle East region as the ultimate answer for an enlightened tomorrow. He assists atheist asylum cases since 2017. He used to be the director of Atheist Asylum Project of Atheist Alliance International (2015-2018). He is the director of the Assistance for Apostates (A4A) program of the Centre for Inquiry Canada (2021-present). He is the director of the Atheist Refugee Assistance Program of Ateizm Dernegi (Association of Atheism, Turkey) - (2020 to present). He also works as a Case Manager of the Secular Rescue program at the Center for Inquiry USA (2024-present). As of March 20, 2023, Mr. Romano-Cilek has assisted 78 cases in Canadian Immigration, 129 cases in Turkish Immigration system, and 94 cases globally in other countries' Immigration Offices, as well as an additional 77 United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cases.
