Mirka Hokkanen on Superpeer
Illustration and Art
Mirka Hokkanen is a Finnish-American neurodivergent (ADHD) artist, author and illustrator. She works with traditional publishers, has published 9 books and dabbles in self-publishing coloring books and journals. Mirka has an MFA in printmaking, and has over a decade of experience in the fine art world, exhibiting in galleries, teaching in-person classes and selling work at art fairs before starting to illustrate books and license her work. Mirka is a military spouse and mom to three kids. She's learned to adapt quickly to all kinds of situations and turn challenges into opportunities. With her background and experiences, she works comfortably with watercolors, digital and printmaking media, and can discuss a career in art from multiple perspectives from creating work for galleries, to commercial illustration, to running a small business. When not creating a menagerie in the studio she takes care of the zoo she has at home: three kids, a kitty, a pup and a husband.
