Julia M. Usher on Superpeer
Sugar Artist & Instructor | Cookie Master
Hi, I'm Julia M. Usher, a world-renowned sugar artist best known for my pioneering work in 3-D decorated cookies. I love meeting fellow sugar artists, and am available to discuss everything from how to achieve the proper royal icing consistency to developing a successful brand. MORE ABOUT ME: While I'm most known for my cookies, I have 25 years-plus experience in the food industry. Over that 25 years, I have written two award-winning cookbooks, published 13 ebooks, chaired the board of IACP (the world's largest association of culinary professionals), run a brick-and-mortar bakery (for ten years), co-developed a documentary for Food Network, created a large and successful online following, developed two culinary product lines, and traveled the globe teaching cookie decorating. In 2013, I was awarded Cake Masters Magazine’s first-ever Cookie Artist of the Year award; in 2014, I received the coveted Medal of Honor from OSSAS for my outstanding contributions to the sugar arts industry; in 2016, I was recognized as both Sugar Artist of the Year USA and International Sugar Artist of the Year by Edible Artists Global Awards; and, in 2024, I was honored with American Cake Awards' Industry Icon of the Year Award. All of this is my way of saying . . . I've been around the block a few times! (My gray hairs and wrinkles are certainly testament to that!) Sincerely, my greatest hope in joining Superpeer is that I can more directly share some part of my hard-earned and varied experience with you. And that this sharing helps you realize your baking and decorating dreams faster than you could have imagined! SOME NOTES ABOUT BOOKING MY ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING SESSIONS: (1) I offer both Short Consults (30 minutes) and In-Depth Sessions (60 minutes), both of which are conducted on Zoom using two cameras to allow for decorating/baking demonstrations as desired. (2) If a mini hands-on decorating session is desired, I recommend choosing the In-Depth Session and focusing on a single technique. (3) For either session type, please be as specific as possible when describing the topic or technique you want me to address during our Zoom call. That way, I can be sure to bring my A-game to you by prepping in advance if needed. Again, focusing on one or two specific questions or techniques is best, so that I have time to thoroughly address your needs. Open-ended calls with multiple objectives are generally going to be less productive given the relatively short nature of these consultations. Thank you! I look forward to chatting with you soon! In the meantime, live sweetly, as I like to say!
