Edidiong Ekong is a senior marketing executive specializing in product marketing, advertising, and multi-market communications with a strong background in product development, business expansion and sales across industries, including payments, e-commerce, logistics, digital entertainment and sports. In 2021, Eddiong joined Alerzo, a B2B technology company digitizing Africa’s informal retail sector. Founded in Nigeria in 2019, Alerzo serves over 200,000 informal retail stores across East and West Africa, connecting these retailers to local and multinational distributors of consumer brands like Unilever, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, Dangote, and PZ. Alerzo offers warehousing and fulfilment solutions to suppliers and storefront delivery to informal retailers (MSMEs and SMEs) in tier-2 to tier-4 cities within 24 hours for free. At Alerzo, Edidiong leads marketing for all its products in Nigeria, including Alerzoshop (B2B e-commerce app for informal retailers), Veedez (Bookkeeping and Inventory App), Alerzopay (Digital Bank and Agency Banking), and Jeetar (Quick on-demand grocery delivery service). At Klasha (Techstars' 19) - a San Francisco-based fintech company, Edidiong managed corporate marketing functions, including brand management, product launch, advertising, marketing collateral, and events and within six months led the growth in active B2B and B2C clients from 0 to over 20,000 in Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and Kenya with an MoM growth rate of 366% and revenue of more than $10m. Before then, Edidiong worked as Marketing Manager at Boomplay - Africa's largest and fastest-growing music streaming service, where he was instrumental in the growth in the number of users in Nigeria from 9m users in November 2018 to over 60 million users through different marketing campaigns such as the Big Brother Naija, activations in collaboration with The Guardian, Standard Chartered Bank, Filmhouse Cinemas across 15 Nigerian universities, the POP Campus Tour, Tiwa 499 Concert, Niniola Concert, Falz, Kizz Daniel, Felabration, and others. He also managed global partnerships with major music labels, including Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Empire, Believe, Orchard, TuneCore, Africori, CCI, and FreeMe Digital. Edidiong holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Uyo and an MBA in Ecommerce from Nexford University, USA, and serves as a Product Marketing Tutor at AltSchool Africa.
